To compare device skins, separate three things: the material, the application method, and the finish. A glossy surface can be clear TPU, an embossed leather-look film, or a custom print. Those products may look reflective, but they do not necessarily feel or install the same way.

Naked Series: Clear Does Not Mean One Material

The air-release channel grid in Naked Matte and Semi-Gloss may be more visible on darker devices. Naked Gloss and Ultra Matte have heat-activated surface recovery that can help minor marks fade; this does not repair deep scratches, tears, or damage to the device underneath. Follow the material-specific instructions rather than improvising a heat treatment.
Which Options Are Confirmed 3M?
The current materials guide identifies 3M in the following options:
- Naked Matte and Naked Semi-Gloss.
- The listed Color Series colors, including Matte Black and Matte White.
- Carbon Black, Carbon Gun and Carbon White.
- Metal Steel, Gold, Onyx and Copper.
- Wood Ebony; Stone Concrete and Slate; Shade Black.
- Limited Matrix and Charred Robot.
Do not extend that label to every color or every Slickwraps product. For example, the descriptions for Carbon Red, Blue and Yellow do not make the same 3M claim. Naked Gloss and Ultra Matte are identified as TPU; they should not be described as the dry-application 3M Naked material.
Compare the Actual Texture and Sheen
- Color Series: several colors have a structural matte finish with a fine tactile grain. Matte White is described as smooth and flat, without added texture. “Solid color” does not mean every option feels identical.
- Carbon: a carbon-fiber-inspired pattern and texture, not structural carbon-fiber panels.
- Leather: Black Leather and Black Alligator are embossed, high-gloss leather-look finishes—not a promise of a matte surface or genuine hide.
- Metal, Wood and Stone: material-inspired appearances and textures rather than sheets of raw metal, wood or stone.
- Honeycomb, Shade and Limited: compare the individual pattern and sheen. A series can contain visibly different finishes.
- Glitz: reflective gloss with a glitter-like shimmer.
Texture and reflectivity can change how fingerprints look and how a device feels in your hand, but there is no single grip ranking that applies to every finish, device and user.
Printed Designs, Custom Artwork and Glow
Printed series offer ready-made artwork. For your own image or logo, choose an actual Custom Skin product and check its available finish options. Do not assume a Color or Naked listing accepts custom uploads.
Custom designs are not printed on clear material. A transparent PNG prints white in transparent areas if no background color is selected; it does not leave the device visible.
Green Glow also has distinct options. The materials guide describes a dry-application glow film and a brighter wet-application TPU version with back-only coverage. Brightness and duration depend on light exposure. Check what is offered for your specific model.

- Confirm the device model and included panels.
- Choose clear protection, a color or texture, or printed artwork.
- Compare the individual material videos and finish descriptions.
- Check the dry- or wet-application instructions.
- If using a case, check the actual fit rather than relying on a blanket compatibility claim.
A skin provides a slim surface layer, not impact cushioning or waterproofing. Use the installation guides and phone skin and case guide to plan the setup before ordering.
